About Michael

Michael Funkey is an attorney with one of the strongest backgrounds in the state of Illinois. He has practiced law in the greater Chicago area for more than 40 years.

Michael’s continued presence in the legal community has earned the respect of fellow attorneys throughout Illinois. He was appointed by the Illinois Supreme Court to be a member of the Illinois Board of Admissions to the Bar from 1994-2004, and he has taught at the Northern Illinois University College of Law for over 10 years. Michael served for 12 years as the Village Attorney of Elburn, Illinois, and for 8 years as Aurora Township Attorney.

Michael is also the recipient of an AV Preeminent rating from Martindale-Hubbel. This rating signifies that Michael’s peers rank him at the highest level of professional excellence for his legal knowledge, communication skills, and ethical standards.

Michael is a graduate of Loyola University in New Orleans and earned Juris Doctor (J.D.) at DePaul University in Chicago. He founded Funkey Law Offices—now Funkey Law and Mediation Center—in 1996.
